Position Overview

As a Lead Web Solution Engineer, you’ll leverage your expertise to craft software solutions that transform businesses and exceed client expectations. You’ll be at the forefront of our development efforts, playing a critical role in delivering high-quality web applications, helping shape our technical architecture, and fostering a culture of growth within our team.

This role is perfect for a passionate problem-solver who thrives on tackling complex challenges and effectively communicating and developing solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference by translating technical concepts into clear and concise explanations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

Your time will be thoughtfully allocated. We aim for:

• 75% hands-on development and coding, 
• 15% dedicated to estimating, strategic planning, architectural design, and collaborative stakeholder engagement,
• 10% for essential meetings and collaborating with our team.

 

Consultant Mindset

This is your chance to become a trusted technology advisor to a diverse portfolio of businesses. We’re looking for a solution engineer with a strong consultant mindset to join our team. At LuminFire, you’ll work closely with multiple clients each week, building strong relationships and understanding their unique needs. As a Lead Web Solution Engineer, your work will be to make recommendations, estimate, design, build and deliver solutions that make a real impact.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Architect & Develop Clean, Efficient, and Scalable Code:

• Design, build, and maintain complex web applications using Laravel (PHP), JavaScript, and other languages and frameworks as needed.
• Craft compelling applications, optimize database schemas, develop and document APIs.
• Implement security and data privacy best practices.
• Adhere to SDLC best practices.
• Write unit/functional/integration tests, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure the reliability and uptime of client applications.

2. Collaborate with Stakeholders:

• Partner with product owners and business operation teams to deliver brilliant solutions.
• Enhance internal tools and processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Bridge the gap between technical development and business objectives.

3. Lead and Mentor Developers:

• Guide a team of developers, sharing knowledge and maintaining coding standards and best practices.
• Inspire innovation and foster collaboration where needed to achieve project goals.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and propose effective solutions.

4. Continuously Improve Applications

• Stay updated on Laravel and PHP/JavaScript best practices and emerging web technologies.
• Deploy applications in production environments and resolve issues promptly.
• Document applications and development processes for future scalability.
• Maintain and improve legacy WordPress websites as needed.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional web development experience.
• 5+ years working with Laravel and/or PHP MVC frameworks.
• Strong grasp of software architecture, including database query optimization and caching.
• Strong PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript skills.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly with non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience using source control systems such as Git.
• Experience working in an Agile SCRUM environment.
• Familiarity with public cloud platforms like AWS, Digital Ocean, and/or Azure. 
• Disciplined self-starter able to be highly productive both working alone and in collaboration with a team.

 

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Vue/React, Inertia, and/or TypeScript.
• Familiarity with Tailwind CSS or Flux for responsive design. 
• Familiarity with Gitlab, CI/CD pipelines and runner configuration.
• Familiarity with (or willing to learn) WordPress, WooCommerce, and/or Gravity Forms.
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

 

Additional Desirable Skills

• Ability to work within existing development standards as well as help define new ones.
• Because we follow a time and materials billing model, a background in client services or experience working as an independent contractor billing hourly is an advantage.
• AWS Certified Solution Architect
