Job Description

General Description/Purpose

As a Plumber, you will be responsible for installing and repairing pipes that supply water and gas to, and carry waste away from, homes.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide a full range of plumbing services under the direction of assigned supervisor including installation and repair of pipes, fittings, fixtures and drainage systems.
• Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
• Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.
• Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
• Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
• Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
• Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, water heaters and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools.
• Install and repair plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
• Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.

Required Qualifications

• Plumbers License or Certification from a credible and verifiable source preferred
• A high school diploma or GED is required. 
• 2+ years of related plumbing experience is required. 
• Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
• Basic math skills are essential
• 5+ years of experience working in the construction industry

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift heavy loads, work in awkward spaces safely and stand for long hours. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
