House of Rental was established in 1969 as a full service Party, Event & Equipment rental company based in Skokie. We rent a large variety of professional tools and equipment for the contractor, homeowner, or industrial user, serving Chicago and surrounding areas.

Overview:
The Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a variety of rental equipment, including party rental items and heavy machinery, to ensure they are in safe, functional, and presentable condition. This role requires hands-on technical skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach. The Repair Technician will help minimize downtime and maximize the quality of equipment for rental, ensuring customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Inspection & Maintenance:

    • Conduct regular inspections on party rental items (lighting, heaters, kitchen equipment ) and heavy equipment (generators, lifts, skid steers) to ensure safety, cleanliness, and functionality.
    • Perform preventive maintenance and timely repairs to reduce equipment downtime and maintain rental readiness.
  2. Repair & Troubleshooting:

    • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and structural issues in rental equipment and perform necessary repairs.
    • Maintain detailed records of diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and resolution times.
  3. Cleaning & Preparation:

    • Clean, sanitize, and prepare rental items after they are returned, ensuring they are in excellent condition for the next rental.
    • Manage and organize repair space to ensure quick access to tools, parts, and resources.
  4. Parts Inventory Management:

    • Track and manage parts inventory, ordering replacement parts as needed to avoid delays.
    • Ensure tools and supplies are organized and properly maintained.
  5. Safety & Compliance:

    • Follow industry standards and safety regulations for repairs and handling of equipment.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  6. Customer Interaction & Support:

    • Occasionally interact with customers to understand any issues with rented equipment and provide on-site troubleshooting if needed.
    • Assist with equipment setup and delivery as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in mechanics, electrical work, or related fields preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in equipment repair, preferably in the rental industry.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and small engine repair.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Customer service skills and a positive, helpful attitude.
  • Physical ability to handle heavy equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in a variety of environments.

Working Conditions:

  • The role may require work in warehouses, outdoor settings, or client sites.
  • Evening or weekend availability may be required during peak rental seasons.

Salary: Based on experience and qualifications, with benefits. $ 24-28
