Apple’s Global Business Solutions (GBS) organization operates four regional shared service centers around the world. As Apple continues to grow its global presence in new and existing markets, the GBS organization is also growing to better manage and operate the regional sites and drive global coordination. We are seeking a Sr. Tax Analyst to support the Tax group as part of the Americas GBS. Take up an exciting role responsible for influencing customer satisfaction while ensuring tax compliance with exposure to several different tax disciplines. Primary responsibilities include preparing and filing US indirect and property tax returns; secondary responsibilities include supporting Canadian direct and indirect tax compliance as well as withholding tax compliance and US governmental and statistical reporting. Candidate may also be responsible for managing audits within each of these tax areas. The Sr. Tax Analyst will report to the Manager of Tax Compliance within Record to Report (R2R) for the Americas in Austin, Texas. The Sr. Tax Analyst will advise and collaborate heavily with all contacts responsible for the Americas tax compliance and controls.

Description

- Timely filing and remitting US sales tax returns and payments monthly - Timely filing and remitting US property tax returns and payments - Reconciling General Ledger tax accounts and recording any JV’s as necessary to ensure tax payments are accurately recorded and remitted - Assisting with Canadian direct and indirect tax compliance - 1099 and 1042-S withholding tax support and facilitating IRS tax payments - Gathering and preparing statistical reporting and reporting for agencies such as the US Census Bureau and the Bureau of Economic Development - Managing and/or supporting tax audits, as needed - Completing special projects, as needed - Assisting with testing system updates and enhancements related to tax compliance - Participating in review and creation of procedure and control documentation

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in tax, preferably in a multinational corporate tax environment or a combination of experience within a corporate tax environment and a public accounting or consulting firm or other relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business (or strongly equivalent experience in multinational company

Preferred Qualifications

• Solid understanding of accounting required, prefer experience with internal controls and SOX testing
• Proficient with computer systems, including spreadsheet and tax compliance platforms; experience with SAP, Vertex, CorpSales, and/or PTMS preferred
• Exposure to reporting/analytics and collaboration platforms and data science & machine learning platforms, such as Workiva, Tableau and Dataiku
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables with competing timelines
• Strong attention to accuracy and detail
• Developed analytical and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
• High level of ethics, integrity, judgment, discretion and confidentiality
• Strong customer service orientation
• Prefer experience in a technology company with a strong retail emphasis
• Prefer experience with direct and indirect tax compliance and withholding tax compliance and reporting
