Under the direction of the Chief Assistant Attorney General (Chief), the Staff Services Manager II (SSM) performs at the full supervisory level, providing the Chief with expertise on highly complex and sensitive policy evaluation, managing the administrative activities, and resolving difficult program-related issues within the Public Rights Division (PRD, Division) of the California Department of Justice. The SSM is a subject matter generalist possessing strong analytical skills and managerial abilities, and will be responsible for supervising a team of professionals committed to excellence in the PRD Executive Office; overseeing fiscal and personnel matters within the Division; managing the $200+ million dollar budget; monitoring expenditures, collections, and projections for over a dozen sections with multiple fund sources; and serving as liaison with other departmental programs including budgets, accounting, personnel, contracts, client matters, legislation, budget change proposals, facilities, property control, and procurement.
